Applications are invited for tenure-track faculty positions in Chemical and Materials Engineering targeted at the assistant and associate professor levels. The successful candidates are expected to establish productive research programs in areas such as, but not limited to, thermodynamics, reactor engineering, fuel cells, process control, and renewable energy. Candidates must have the ability to conduct both independent and cooperative research, develop viable and productive research programs, and to teach both undergraduate and graduate courses in chemical and/or materials engineering. Successful candidates will be joining a vibrant, multi-disciplinary community of engineering researchers on the University of Alberta campus.?

Candidates must hold a PhD in Chemical Engineering or Materials Engineering, or closely related field, or expect to receive one shortly after taking up their appointment. The successful candidate must be or become a registered Professional Engineer?in the Province of Alberta. The recruited individuals are expected to develop collaborative efforts with other groups in their area of research.

The Department of Chemical and Materials Engineering at the University of Alberta is a global leader in research and education. With a faculty complement of 54 and plans for continued expansion, we have created a dynamic and supportive research environment. Among your peers in the department, you will find a Canada Excellence Research Chair, 7 Canada Research Chairs, 6 NSERC Industrial Research Chairs, a Campus Alberta Innovates Program Chair, and 6 endowed chairs. Our rapidly expanding research programs involve approximately 350 graduate students and 70 other researchers.

The exceptional experimental and computational facilities available to our faculty members include a comprehensive set of analytical and characterization facilities such as the Alberta Centre for Surface Engineering and Science (ACSES) and the nanoFAB (Fabrication & Characterization Facility) and an extensive set of departmental characterization equipment. In addition, our researchers have access to on-site machine and instrumentation shops, as well as one of the most technologically advanced nanotechnology facilities in the world C the National Institute for Nanotechnology (NINT). You will be joining an exciting, vibrant, and diverse research community. Our department is recognized as a leader in the areas of surface and interfacial science, nanomaterials, soft materials, biomaterials and regenerative medicine, reaction engineering and catalysis, high temperature fuel cells, corrosion, welding and joining, and process systems engineering and process control.
